BEYOND BOUNDARIES (March 9th-April 6th, 2018)
BEYOND BOUNDARIES (March 9th-April 6th, 2018)I was asked to be a part of this show as a way to build awareness for those suffering from mental and physical disabilities and disorders. I am diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder and instead of showing the pain it can cause, I chose to use a method, “Acrylic Pour Art", to depict the “mess in my mind". I explained at the show's coming that my pieces show the complexity of mental disorders, especially living with bipolar. In order to make a difference in my art, I decided to label myself has someone not with mental illness but mental realness.A Mess in My MindIn this series of paintings, I am depicting the different emotions of bipolar disorder with which I have been diagnosed. Living with this disease can be debilitating but art helps me purge my confusing “mess” of conflicting emotions into a visual representation. The colors swirl and marble, much like my ups and downs of my bipolar disorder. With colors like gold, blue and green mixed with black and even a muddier form of olive, these pieces should how it looks to manage an emotional mental illness, one that can be both hideous and beautiful all at once.
